Randy Pausch and Jeffrey Zaslow
Randy Pausch is a 46 year-old father of three and Carnegie Mellon University computer-science professor. Suffering with pancreatic cancer and only a few months to live, he gave his 'last lecture' using images on a giant screen, which turned out to be a rollicking and riveting journey through the lessons of his life. Randy will work closely with Jeff on the book for as long as he is able to.Jeff Zaslow is the ideal collaborator for Randy. His "Moving On" feature column, more often than not the most emailed of the day when it appears in the Journal, has been an outlet for him to write about subjects that emotionally engage hundreds of thousands of people (the Journal's worldwide circulation is about 2,000,000 with nearly 1 million online subscribers). But nothing he's written compares to the nerve he touched by presenting Randy's lecture. The Wall Street Journal, a devout fan of Jeff, has promised its full support.
