Julie Walters has been delighting the world on screen and stage for over 25 years. A talented actress and comedienne, she has twice been nominated for an Oscar and has won many awards for her work. Julie Walters has played roles as diverse as the eponymous lead in Educating Rita, the hilarious Mrs Overall in Victoria Wood's cult series Acorn Antiques, Mrs Weasley in the Harry Potter films (which won her a new generation of fans) and, most recently, the comic character of Rosie in Mamma Mia! with Meryl Streep. Now she tells us her own story, in her own words. Julie was born in 1950s' Birmingham to an austere Irish Catholic mother. Convent-educated, she wanted to become an actress from a young age but, to appease her mother, went into nursing. This didn't last long and she soon joined the Everyman Theatre in Liverpool. West End success followed and she quickly replicated her success on film in the much-loved Educating Rita and the rest is history. In her autobiography Julie Walters reveals with characteristic wit and candour the highs and the lows of a remarkable life.
